Black twinberry (Lonicera involucrata)
Also known as twinberry honeysuckle, black twinberry provides both forage and cover for wildlife. Although the berries are not edible for humans, birds and other wildlife species enjoy them, and the trumpet-shaped yellow flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
Black twinberry prefers some shade but can tolerate full sun, although it is not drought tolerant. Black twinberry needs well-drained but moist soil, and is a good choice for soil stabilization and erosion control in riparian (streamside) areas. It is also useful in hedgerows and wind shelters.
