Pacific Ninebark (Physocarpos capitatus)
Pacific Ninebark is found at low to mid elevations throughout western Washington. A large deciduous shrub, it that can grow to 15 feet tall and spread equally wide. Pacific Ninebark prefers moist soils, and is often found growing along streams, lakes and wetlands. Its dense root system makes it useful in stream-side stabilization. Many species use Pacific Ninebark for forage and habitat, and the shrub also has ornamental value: Its long, arching branches are covered with clusters of small, white flowers in late spring.
