Quaking Aspen (Populus tremuloides)

A fast-growing, graceful, cold-hardy tree, Aspen is native throughout western mountains. It has smooth, pale, gray-green to whitish trunk and limbs. Dainty, light green round leaves flutter and quake in the slightest breeze. Foliage is brilliant golden yellow in autumn. The male and female catkins grow on separate trees. Roots will sucker. Quaking Aspen can reach 40-50 feet tall at maturity.
